Mel Ward Scholarship Afternoon Tea 2015

This afternoon tea provided the opportunity to celebrate the generousity of Pro Medicus Ltd and introduce them to the most recent Mel Ward Scholarship in Research recipient, Philippa Karoly. Donated by Pro Medicus Ltd in memory of Mel Ward AO who passed away in 2010, the Mel Ward scholarships have supported students in our Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department for the past five years. Mel Ward was the last Managing Director of Telecom Australia and the first person in the country to make a mobile phone call. He contributed to the everyday life of all Australians through his pioneering contributions in the field of digitisation of Australia’s telephone and data networks and telecommunications.
